Jobs to be doing in May include
– harvesting asparagus, baby globe artichokes and turnips, fresh green garlic and new season Oriental salad leaves
– sow outdoors if the weather is mild and no sign of frost. Sow indoors or under cover if not
– harden off seedlings and start planting out once the soil becomes warm enough
– plant the last of your seed potatoes protect tender plants against sudden late frosts. Keep an eye on the weather and be ready with cloches, fleeces etc
– weed regularly and thoroughly and keep young plants well watered
– net fruit bushes to protect them from the birds

Sadly our working party on 1st May was cancelled, not due to rain but due to record breaking temperatures, so it seemed irresponsible to have a bonfire. Please continue to stack burnable content in the bonfire waiting area.

Our next working party is 14th May, a Wednesday at 2pm if you can join.

Anyway, continue to make the most of this weather and see you soon.
