Harvest Festival Open Morning welcomes visitors
Plotters welcomed visitors to a Harvest Festival Open Morning on Saturday 21st September and despite a very wet 24 hours leading up to the event, it mostly stayed dry.
On sale were delicious home made cakes, jam and chutney, plants, produce and beautiful cut flowers. A bountiful harvest of apples, runner beans, marrows, gourds and swiss chard were matched by the striking colours of armfuls of brightly coloured cut flowers. Visitors were warmed by hot tea and coffee and bought raffle tickets for a table groaning under the weight of prizes!
The plotters and visitors were grateful for the gazebos to shelter from the occasional brief shower, but the weather didn’t stop people from wandering around the allotment to see the plots as they were coming to the end of a fruitful season.
Thank you to everyone who visited and to all the plotters who baked cakes, built gazebos and manned stalls.
